Just don't skip the Assassin's Tombs. Alternately, don't get hit, and never worry about armor. The Missaglias armour is the last set you can buy, and if you do the tombs as they become available you will have Altair's armour before the whole Missaglias set is even available to buy I think. I'm pretty sure the stats are equal, but Altair's never needs repairing. Personally, I was rolling in Missaglias and Ochre I think at the end of the game just because it looks better.
