So to set the record straight—or at least get the most up-to-date info, we reached out to a team of professionals who agreed to provide some much-needed clarity. These experts have read the research, have helped plenty of clients get healthy, and know how to eat well and stay healthy. Here's what they say.

Jennifer Markowitz MS, RD , is a dietitian and nutritionist who works with clients to help identify the best approach to a healthy diet and holistic health. We asked these pros to help answer some of the most common questions when it comes to discussing breakfast importance for our health, and we're presenting them here, in their own words:.

New Year. New Food. Healthy eating starts here, with the Cooking Light Diet. The authors do point out that the RCTs had flaws. Participants knew what experimental group they were in. The studies used various groups college students, hospital staff, general public ; featured different foods crisped rice, wheat flakes, oatmeal ; and had widely varying follow-up times.

The RCT comparing a high-protein, high-fiber breakfast with nothing has yet to be conducted. Or, at the very least, try not to eat close to bedtime. Whatever your preferred schedule, try to stretch out the time between meals, and give your body a chance to burn fat. Your metabolism will thank you!
