Unusual Gems are the magenta stones inside of an opened gold box, and there are 24 of them scattered throughout the province of Skyrim. The Unusual Gems are tied to a Skyrim Thieves Guild quest that varies depending on the player's story progression. If someone is not part of the Thieves Guild, the gems will remain named Unusual Gems until the Thieves Guild is found. No quest markers are given for the stones. Begin the No Stone Unturned through a miscellaneous quest by picking up any Unusual Gem from any location.
Next, head to Riften and speak with Brynjolf in the Riften marketplace. After completing his task, he will ask the Dragonborn to meet him at the Thieves Guild - gaining access to the Ragged Flagon. If it's nighttime, Brynjolf can be found at the Bee and Bard and he will still give the same quest.

The Treasury House , on a bedside table in Thonar's bedroom, which is down the hall on the left from where you enter the front door. You may need to pick an apprentice-level door, but no one reacts.

You can also find this by going back to Thalmor Embassy by fast travel. Once there, you can pick the gate open, there are about 3 Thalmor in the front yard and about 3 in back.

You can go all the way up to the room where the Stone is. You can also hit Tilde, type in tcl, hit Tilde again, and go through the locked doors into the kitchen and also into the main hall where the party was held.
You can loot all the food lying around, and you can get your sneak skill up by attacking the only person left there, Razelan. He cannot die and you get no bounty for attacking him.
Fast travel to the Thalmor Embassy and go west around the side of the compound and slide down the cliff to the bottom while using the local map to guide you.
Inside the cave, defeat the frost troll again if needed and go left around the corner and to the far side where a lighted cove guides you to the elusive Stone of Barenziah found next to the dead body. College of Winterhold : On a shelf in the Arch-Mage's quarters. Yngvild : In the Throne Room area of Yngvild , in the chamber behind the throne. Markarth Treasury House : On a nightstand next to the bed in the master bedroom.
